Ritual Coffee Roasters
Mission District pioneer that helped launch San Francisco's third-wave movement.
Ritual Coffee Roasters opened in San Francisco's Mission District in 2005, co-founded by Eileen Hassi Rinaldi, and was one of the catalysts of the city's third-wave coffee boom. Recognisable by its bright red logo, Ritual built a reputation for crisp, flavour-forward roasting and a fiercely independent, community-rooted ethos at a time when specialty coffee was still emerging on the West Coast. As a woman-founded roaster that has remained independent, it occupies a notable place in the cultural history of American specialty coffee.
