Tim Wendelboe
The Oslo micro-roastery that became shorthand for Nordic light roasting and farm-level sourcing.
Founded in 2007 by Tim Wendelboe — World Barista Champion in 2004 and World Cup Tasters winner — this tiny Grünerløkka roastery, bar, and training space became one of the most influential names in modern specialty coffee. Wendelboe helped define the 'Nordic' approach: extremely light roasting intended to express origin character with maximum transparency, paired with obsessive sourcing. The company is known for deep, multi-year relationships at origin, most famously its long-running agronomy partnership with Finca Tamana in Colombia's Huila, as well as celebrated lots from Kenya and Ethiopia. More a research project than a large business, Tim Wendelboe's outsized reputation rests on consistency, education, and an uncompromising belief that great coffee is made on the farm.
