From the roaster

Our Thoughts In our stores, we keep our coffee on the shelves for 60 days and then we pull them. This isn't because the quality of the coffee changes much, but because we've had this standard in place for many years.  Believe it or not, sometimes our coffee doesn't sell fast enough. So what have we decided to do with our surplus coffee? We have decided to pass the savings along to our online customers.

We will be selling three bags of coffee for a total of $27 and it will only be between 60-90 days off roast. The quality of the coffee is still high level and we want to see it put to continued good use. You'll receive three bags of coffee from any of our regions. We can't wait to have you try a different variety of coffee every time you order. Tell us your favorites!

Context

The Birch Coffee Surplus, crafted by Birch Coffee, represents a unique approach to blending by sourcing beans from across Central America, South America, Africa, and Indonesia. By combining origins from four distinct continents, this blend aims to balance a wide spectrum of characteristics, resulting in a profile described by the roaster as chocolaty, cocoa, fruity, and nutty.

When evaluating such diverse blends, it is helpful to consider how different processing methods and regional climates influence the final cup. While some coffees lean toward the bright acidity often associated with African origins, others provide the deep, earthy, or nutty foundations typical of Indonesian or South American harvests. To better understand how these specific descriptors align with your own palate, you can reference the flavor wheel to identify the nuances between cocoa-forward notes and the more vibrant, fruity undertones present in this complex, multi-continental offering.
