From the roaster

We’ve worked with Yobani and Yaved for a decade now, and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them, being guests on their homestead, and drinking their coffees. They operate a small farm in the mountains of Huila which is primarily populated by Pink Bourbon and Colombia trees, interplanted with the natural forest and landscape.

Context

Produced by Yobani and Yaved in the Huila region of Colombia · Huila, this Finca la Fuente selection showcases the meticulous work of its producers. The coffee features the Gesha varietal, a plant widely celebrated in the specialty industry for its distinct, tea-like clarity and complex floral aromatics. When evaluating such high-profile lots, roasters like Dayglow often aim to highlight the inherent characteristics of the bean through precise roasting profiles.

Because Gesha is prized for its delicate structure, it is frequently compared against the broader spectrum of coffee profiles found on the flavor wheel. While every harvest is unique, coffees from this specific region often reflect the high-altitude conditions and diverse microclimates found throughout the Colombian landscape. This offering represents a focused look at how careful cultivation and expert roasting can elevate a single varietal to its full potential.
