Grown by a collective of women producers in the highlands of Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz, Guatemala, this lot is all about resilience, skill, and independence. Through the Volcafe Way program (run by our importing partners), these producers are not only improving quality and yield, but they’re building sustainable businesses and reshaping what leadership looks like in coffee.

In the cup, expect a rich, full-bodied profile with notes of chocolate, cherry, and brown sugar. 

But this coffee is bigger than flavour. It’s about access, education, and economic empowerment. It’s about women claiming space, sharing knowledge, and investing back into their farms and communities.

La Morena comes from the mountainous regions of Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz in Guatemala, where washed processing is the standard method for highlighting the coffees' inherent character. Girls Who Grind Coffee has developed this lot to showcase a balanced sweetness profile, featuring notes of chocolate, cherry, and brown sugar—a combination that reflects the typical complexity found in coffees from this Guatemalan origin. The washed preparation emphasizes clarity and acidity, allowing these flavor notes to emerge cleanly through the cup.
