This coffee donates 5% of proceeds to Friends of the Smokies. This one started with a phone call from Our Place, a wonderfully eclectic bookshop and coffee spot on Route 321 in Cosby, Tennessee, right at the edge of the Smokies. They wanted a blend that belonged to the mountains and we were happy to oblige. Sumatra, Nicaragua, and Ethiopian coffees come together in a medium-dark roast that is rich, smoky, and sweet, with earthy depth and hints of wild berries that feel like they belong right there in the hills. It's the kind of cup that makes sense beside a campfire or a good used book. And every bag gives toriends of the Smokies: an official nonprofit partner of Great Smoky Mountains National Park working to preserve one of the most visited and beloved places in America.

Context

The Smoky Mountain Blend, crafted by Larry's Coffee, offers a profile defined by rich, smoky, and earthy depth balanced by a distinct sweetness and notes of wild berries. Blends of this nature often aim to bridge the gap between traditional, heavy-bodied roasts and the nuanced fruit characteristics found in more modern selections. When evaluating such complex profiles, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better categorize the interplay between the roast-driven smoky elements and the brighter, berry-forward undertones. While dark-roasted or earth-toned coffees are frequently prized for their comforting, full-bodied mouthfeel, the addition of wild berry notes suggests a sophisticated layering of flavors that distinguishes this particular offering. Whether enjoyed as a morning staple or a contemplative afternoon cup, this blend highlights the roaster's commitment to achieving a harmonious balance between deep, resonant base notes and vibrant, fruit-inspired highlights.
