Brazil Coqueiro - Wholesale
Roasted by Quarter Horse Coffee
Brazilian single origin from Serra de Mantiqueira cooperative with Protected Denomination of Origin status.

From the roaster
Last year we took an origin trip with our import partners, DRWakefield, to visit a variety of farms in Brazil. This particular coffee was booked direct from that trip.
Jonatas runs Coqueiro as part of Cocarive (Cooperativa Regional dos Cafeicultores do Vale do Rio Verde), a cooperative of farmers who work together to improve productivity, quality and secure better prices for their beans.
This effort has lead to the Serra de Mantiqueira being recognised not only as one of the best coffee producing areas in Brazil, but special enough to have earned a Protected Denomination of Origin status. Producers from Mantiqueira De Minas have over 358 awards from Cup of Excellence between them, including the highest score from any coffee of any country.
Over the past 5 decades Cocarive has grown in size, but their commitment to coffee excellence never waned. Their first warehouse was inaugurated in 1984, with headquarters next door. In 1996 the offices were fully renovated and 2012 saw them begin exporting their coffee.

Context
Brazil's Serra de Mantiqueira region produces coffees known for their balanced, approachable profiles. This lot from producer Jonatas Coqueiro through Cocarive represents the area's potential for clean, nuanced cup expression. Quarter Horse Coffee sources from Brazil's premier coffee regions, where elevation and terroir create distinct flavor characteristics. Natural-processed coffees from this origin often develop fruit-forward complexity alongside chocolate and nut undertones—though individual expressions vary considerably. As a wholesale offering, this coffee delivers consistency suited to espresso and filter preparation. Reference the flavor wheel to map specific tasting notes to broader sensory categories and refine your palate recognition.
