Just as Burnside Street divides north and south Portland, our Burnside Blend bridges modern roasting with classic comfort. Inspired by Portland's longstanding coffee culture, it celebrates approachable coffees built on sweetness, balance, and everyday drinkability.
At Case Study Coffee Roasters, we pair thoughtfully sourced relationship coffees with a familiar, comforting profile that feels at home in any cup. This year's blend brings together Guatemala's El Tambor—one of our closest relationship coffees—and Brazil Baba from the renowned Carmo de Minas region, creating a rich, balanced espresso with notes of milk chocolate, toffee, and cashew.
Though the components change with the seasons, Burnside Blend remains true to its purpose: a sweet, dependable coffee that's equally enjoyable with milk, without milk, brewed as espresso, or prepared by hand. Expect a smooth, approachable cup with lasting sweetness and a comforting finish.

Context
The Burnside Blend, crafted by Case Study Coffee, highlights the distinct agricultural traditions of Guatemala and the Carmo de Minas region. Produced by Victor Calderon, this offering utilizes a combination of washed and pulped natural processing methods. While washed coffees are typically celebrated for their clean, bright acidity, pulped natural techniques often bridge the gap between traditional clarity and the syrupy body found in sun-dried lots. Understanding these processing methods is essential for appreciating how producers influence the final cup profile.
In the cup, this blend leans into comforting, dessert-like qualities, featuring notes of milk chocolate, toffee, and cashew. These flavors are classic examples of the sweet, nutty profiles often sought in high-quality Latin American coffees. To better understand how these specific descriptors fit into the broader spectrum of coffee aromatics, consult the flavor wheel to explore the nuances of these foundational taste categories.
