From the roaster

When the opportunity arose to create our first collaborative product with another roaster, we looked to the global stage. We’ve partnered with Fritz Coffee of Korea, whose dedication to quality and craftsmanship mirrors our own. By exchanging green (unroasted) coffee from some of our best suppliers, we crafted a product that reaches new horizons and celebrates our shared commitment to excellence. This coffee pairing bursts with juicy notes of apple and blueberry complemented by soft melon flavors.

Context

Gemini, offered by Counter Culture Coffee, presents a distinct profile characterized by notes of apple, blueberry, and melon. When evaluating coffees with such vibrant, fruit-forward profiles, it is helpful to consider how specific processing methods can influence the final cup. Natural-processed coffees, for instance, often exhibit heavier fruit characteristics and increased sweetness, while washed coffees frequently highlight cleaner, more acidic profiles.

To better understand the nuances of these descriptors, tasters often refer to the flavor wheel as a standard tool for identifying and categorizing sensory experiences. By mapping these specific fruit notes against the broader spectrum of the wheel, enthusiasts can develop a more precise vocabulary for their brewing sessions. Whether you are exploring the bright acidity of a light roast or the deep, jammy qualities of a fruit-forward selection, utilizing these sensory frameworks allows for a more structured and rewarding exploration of the diverse world of specialty coffee.
