Burundi, Rural Bujumbura Varietal: Red Bourbon Process: Washed Altitude: 1800masl

Cherry Blossom, Green Grapes, Tinned Pears

This coffee was grown in Mutambu Commune of the Mumirwa region, Burundi. 384 smallholders contributed to the lot, including lead farmers Erneste Habonimana, Fidele Sinzotuma, Damien Baransamaje, Philippe Ntagahoraho and Leonard Ndimugipfunsi. After harvest, cherries were sold to Migoti Coffee, who processed it at their washing station in Migoti Hill. Here, cherries were sorted, left to ferment for one day, then pulped and washed. Next, the coffee was pre-dried on tables in the shade for 5 days, before being moved into the sun for full drying on raised beds for 2-3 weeks.

Dark Arts Coffee

Context

HEAVEN NOW arrives from Mumirwa, a storied coffee region in Burundi, where Migoti Coffee cultivates Red Bourbon at 1800 masl. Dark Arts Coffee has processed this lot as a washed coffee, a method that typically emphasizes clarity and brightness. The roaster identifies cherry blossom florality alongside green grape and tinned pear—a profile that balances delicate stone fruit with subtle mineral undertones. Red Bourbon varietals are known for their refined sweetness and complexity, qualities that shine through washed processing. This lot reflects the careful terroir work of East African specialty coffee at altitude.
