Nemba
Roasted by Dayglow
This washed Burundian coffee features sweet notes of dried fruit, honey, and white florals with a silky body.

From the roaster
Its fragrance is very sweet, featuring notes of dried fruit—reminiscent of dried apricots—that are characteristic of the washed Burundian coffees we love so much. You can also detect honey and white floral notes. It has a honey-like acidity and a silky body. The finish is long and pleasant, leaving a sweet, honey-like sensation in the mouth.
The ripe cherries are harvested and undergo a thorough washing process. After depulping, the beans are fermented to remove residual mucilage and then washed with clean water. Subsequently, they are dried on raised beds in the sun, allowing for optimal air circulation that ensures even drying and preserves the coffee's sensory attributes.

Context
Sourced from the high-altitude landscapes of Burundi, this Nemba selection highlights the meticulous standards maintained by Dayglow. As a washed coffee, it undergoes a traditional processing method that typically emphasizes a clean, vibrant acidity and a refined clarity in the cup. While washed coffees are often celebrated for their ability to showcase the inherent terroir of the region, this specific lot presents a nuanced profile featuring dried fruit, dried apricots, honey, and delicate white floral aromatics.
When evaluating such complex profiles, enthusiasts often consult a flavor wheel to better identify the subtle interplay between the sweetness of honey and the stone-fruit characteristics present here. By focusing on the precision of the washing process, this coffee offers a balanced experience that highlights the distinct character of Burundian production, providing a sophisticated example of how careful post-harvest handling shapes the final sensory expression.
