SHOP BLEND

The name is sort of a play on words. This was our very first blend we created in the metal shop all those years ago when we first began experimenting with coffee on an old 70s popcorn maker. Not only did we create this blend in the shop, but its our all-around crowd pleaser. Created for the avid coffee drinker and the folks who don't want too much fuss with their cup.

This blend of Honduras, Colombia, and Guatemala is a straight down the middle medium roast. Not to heavy and not too light, just right. We pick up notes of sweet milk chocolate, nutty pralines, caramelized brown sugar, and creamy marshmallowy vanilla.

Context

The Shop Blend, crafted by James Coffee Co, represents a classic approach to coffee roasting that prioritizes comfort and approachability. By focusing on a profile defined by sweet milk chocolate, nutty pralines, and caramelized brown sugar, this blend aims to deliver a consistent, dessert-like experience in the cup. The addition of creamy marshmallowy vanilla notes rounds out the palate, offering a smooth finish that is often sought after in traditional, well-balanced blends.

When evaluating coffees with such distinct confectionery characteristics, it can be helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better identify the nuances between sugar-browning and nut-based descriptors. While some coffee enthusiasts gravitate toward the bright acidity of light roasts, blends like this one highlight the depth and body achievable through careful development. This selection serves as a reliable staple for those who prefer a rich, comforting brew that pairs exceptionally well with milk or stands firmly on its own.
