Ending the Melbourne vs Sydney feud, we've partnered with Sydney-based brewer and distiller, Young Henrys to bring this first-of-its-kind Coffee Gin to life.

The gin incorporates a fusion of cascara (dried coffee cherries) from Aida Batlle in El Salvador, and piney juniper, topped off with an earthy Angelica root and fruity Tasmanian Enigma hop, resulting in a surprisingly elevated flavour profile.

This blend showcases fruity, floral and caramel notes with a smooth finish.

Enjoy it neat, or it's perfect in a Negroni.

Context

The collaboration between St. Ali and Young Henrys represents a unique intersection of craft beverage worlds, featuring coffee sourced from El Salvador and produced by Aida Batlle. While traditional coffee processing often highlights the inherent characteristics of the bean, this specific project integrates the distinct profiles of coffee with the botanical complexity of gin. When evaluating such experimental offerings, it is helpful to reference a flavor wheel to identify the nuances within the cup.

In general, coffees from El Salvador are celebrated for their balanced acidity and sweetness, while producers like Aida Batlle are recognized for their meticulous attention to detail during harvest and processing. The roaster’s tasting notes for this lot—fruity, floral, and caramel—suggest a profile that bridges the gap between the bright, aromatic qualities often found in high-quality floral coffees and the deep, comforting sweetness of caramel-forward roasts. This partnership highlights the versatility of coffee as both a standalone beverage and a sophisticated ingredient.
