Messenger Coffee
Messenger Coffee is a Kansas City-based specialty roaster founded in 2013, focused on farm-direct sourcing, ethical supply chain relationships, and careful roasting to express each coffee's natural flavors.

Founded in 2013 by three like-minded coffee companies, Messenger Coffee operates out of Kansas City, Missouri, with a flagship roasting facility and café at 1624 Grand Boulevard that opened in October 2017. The company's core philosophy centers on farm-direct relationships with producers in regions such as Honduras and Ethiopia, prioritizing honest and ethical purchasing practices. Messenger uses manual San Franciscan drum roasters and Loring roasting systems to maintain precise control over each roast, aiming to highlight the natural sweetness and complexity found in each coffee rather than imposing a uniform roast profile. The team tastes hundreds of coffees each season to curate a diverse lineup of blends, single origins, and espressos. From its founding, Messenger committed to directing 10% of what it pays for raw coffee toward producer-level impact. In addition to its cafés, the company serves wholesale accounts and provides barista training and consulting services.
