From the roaster

Our Dilworth Decaf blend is roasted medium-dark with notes of stone fruit. It is well-balanced with a smooth body.

Dilworth Decaf is a blend of three premium Royal Select Decaf Single-Origins. Royal Coffee Importers have been working with Descamex in Veracruz for several years to create Royal Select Decaf. Descamex has developed a non-contact water process that returns the beans in such good shape that they retain the full body and richness of non-decaf coffee.

Whether you prefer espresso, pourover, or batch brew, Dilworth delivers on flavor and quality without the caffeine.

Context

Dilworth Decaf, offered by Blossom Coffee Roasters, represents a focused approach to decaffeinated coffee. By utilizing the water process, this selection prioritizes the removal of caffeine while aiming to preserve the inherent characteristics of the bean. Generally, water-processed coffees are favored for their ability to maintain a clean profile, often avoiding the chemical residues sometimes associated with other decaffeination techniques. You can learn more about the nuances of these processing methods to better understand how they influence the final cup.

When evaluating the roaster’s notes of stone fruit, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to identify the specific nuances within that category. While decaf coffees were once overlooked, modern techniques have allowed roasters to highlight delicate fruit-forward qualities that were previously difficult to retain. Dilworth Decaf serves as an example of how careful processing can bridge the gap between the need for caffeine-free options and the desire for a nuanced, fruit-driven experience.
