From the roaster

Cheers to 12,5 years Roast ED. To celebrate this milestone, we created our COPPER BLEND

  • Hazelnut and honey glazed almonds

  • Chocolate cookies

Our signature Espresso blend gets a seasonal refresh with new lots from TOLIMA Colombia and SIDAMO Ethiopia. All this to make sure our most popular espresso blend stays smooth and sweet.

The result: a cup that maintains its creamy mouthfeel while introducing a gentle layer of fruitiness. The Colombia beans add a clean, low-acidity base; the Ethiopian components lifts the profile with soft sweet notes; and the Natural SUL DE MINAS Brazil anchors it all with chocolate tones and body.

A defining feature of Roast ED is its mix of washed and unwashed beans—a dual processing approach that deepens flavor and builds resilience. Whether extracted to perfection or under everyday conditions, this blend consistently delivers a rich, satisfying espresso (or filter) experience.

Our normal base for blending:

1/3 Colombia TOLIMA Reserve

1/3 Ethiopia SIDAMO Gr2

1/3 Brazil SUL DE MINAS Natural

Context

The Roast ED Espresso Blend COPPER Edition, crafted by Caffènation, represents a focused approach to the classic espresso profile. By emphasizing comfort-driven flavors, this blend highlights the intersection of nuttiness and sweetness, featuring distinct notes of hazelnut, honey glazed almonds, and chocolate cookies. Such flavor profiles are often sought after for their versatility, performing exceptionally well both as a standalone shot and when paired with milk.

When evaluating the nuances of a blend like this, tasters often look to the flavor wheel to categorize the specific aromatic compounds that define these dessert-like qualities. While some coffees are celebrated for bright, acidic profiles, blends centered on chocolate and nut notes provide a foundational experience that remains a staple in specialty coffee. This COPPER Edition serves as a testament to the roaster's commitment to consistency and balance, offering a reliable cup that prioritizes depth and a smooth, lingering finish.
