From the roaster

A bold, high-octane roast inspired by the thunderous energy of Marky Ramone, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and iconic drummer of The Ramones, and the raw pulse of New York City’s iconic underground — where punk music and avant-garde art collided to shape global culture.

But the true inspiration behind Bowery Beat goes deeper. A portion of all proceeds will support the Bowery Beat Foundation, a nonprofit initiative currently being established, with its official designation forthcoming. Rooted in Marky’s legacy and driven by his belief in the power of creative expression, the Foundation is being created to preserve and expand access to music education in public schools. It responds to one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the proposed elimination of public-school funding— a move that would endanger the future of arts and music education, silencing the very programs that give young people a voice, a sense of belonging, and a path to creative discovery.

DRINK COFFEE... LIVE LOUD... NEVER MISS A BEAT!!!

We met up with Marky and his team at Adios Amigos to taste through a spread of Central and South American coffees to select components for this blend, creating a blend that is approachable to all his fans. The base of the blend is a staple for us around these parts - a washed processed Catuai from Guatemala, laying the groundwork for a chocolate-forward cup, pairing this with a juicy Colombian coffee from Finca Santa Barbara.

Dark Matter Coffee

Context

This washed Colombian coffee from Finca Santa Barbara arrives via Dark Matter Coffee with a boldly named roast profile that emphasizes darker, heavier notes. The roaster identifies dark chocolate, burnt sugar, and dried fruit in the cup—a flavor progression typical of washed-process coffees that showcase both sweetness and deeper roasted character. Mixed varietal lots like this one often benefit from the washed processing method, which tends to highlight cleaner acidity and more defined flavor layers.

The combination of burnt sugar and dark chocolate suggests a roast that leans into the cocoa-forward end of the spectrum, while the dried fruit notes add complexity to the profile. This coffee positions itself as an approachable daily drinker with pronounced body and richness.
