From Moribund Delusions
Roasted by Dayglow
Sulawesi Typica from Yolan Tirta's precision mill established in 2016.

From the roaster
Panaikang, Gowa Regency. Sulawesi. Here, Yolan Tirta reshapes what this region was once confined to.
A third-generation producer, Yolan established this mill in 2016 with a clear directive, rebuild Sulawesi through precision, not volume. What was once dictated under colonial systems, from the arrival of Typica in 1750 through the control of the Dutch East India Company, now sits in contrast to a new structure, one defined locally, and executed with intent.
At 1,250 MASL, the surrounding farms operate within dense volcanic soil and persistent humidity. Conditions that demand control. Typica and S795 move through both washed and natural pathways, supported by greenhouse drying to stabilise moisture in an otherwise volatile climate. No chemical inputs. The system holds itself through natural cycles, measured, repeatable, sustained.
This is not isolated to a single site. Yolan has extended infrastructure outward, establishing mini mills and drying stations across neighbouring producers. Access replaces limitation. Farmers are brought into alignment with specialty standards, not through force, but through capability.
The result is a region recalibrated. Quality no longer incidental, but constructed through shared systems and reinforced process.
Sulawesi, once known as Celebes, now moves with its own momentum. Not inherited. Rebuilt.

Context
From Moribund Delusions is a washed and natural-processed offering from Dayglow, sourced from producer Yolan Tirta in Sulawesi, Indonesia. The lot draws on Typica, a foundational varietal known for balanced, approachable profiles. The hybrid processing—combining washed and natural methods—creates layered complexity; such combined approaches often bridge the crisp clarity of washed coffees with the fruit-forward character typical of natural processing.
Cultivated at 1250 meters above sea level, this coffee benefits from Sulawesi's volcanic terroir and highland conditions. The dual-process methodology and classic varietal choice position this lot as an exploration of how regional expression and method can interact within a single microlot.
