From the roaster

A blend of African and Latin American coffees, roasted separately prior to blending in order to bring out the distinctive characteristics of each bean. A Balanced blend of sweet fruit, cocoa, and soft nuttiness, with a clean, bright finish. We’ve put a lot of care and effort into perfecting this blend. It is our standard for our Espresso Bar - pairing perfectly with milk to bring out the rich caramel-like sweetness you want in an espresso. This is a medium roast espresso blend. If you're seeking a richer, darker flavor with a bold, powerful espresso taste, we recommend trying our Fall Line Espresso Blend.

The Name: Headwall Espresso — Named after one of our favorite powder runs on the front side of Schweitzer Mountain. This run weaves through towering trees, ensuring that even on a socked-in powder day, you can navigate your way down with style and grace, leaving fresh tracks in your wake. Just like the thrilling descent through the trees, this espresso delivers an exciting experience that awakens your senses and keeps you coming back for more.

Context

The Headwall Espresso Blend, crafted by Evans Brothers Coffee, is designed to offer a balanced profile that bridges the gap between traditional comfort and modern complexity. By combining notes of sweet fruit, cocoa, and soft nuttiness, this blend aims to provide a versatile experience suitable for both straight espresso shots and milk-based drinks.

In the broader landscape of specialty coffee, espresso blends are often engineered to highlight a harmonious interplay between acidity and body. While single-origin coffees might focus on a singular, distinct characteristic, blends like this one prioritize consistency and a rounded mouthfeel. To better understand how these specific flavor descriptors—such as the interplay between cocoa and fruit—fit into the broader spectrum of coffee tasting, enthusiasts often refer to the flavor wheel. This tool helps categorize the nuanced sensory experiences found in high-quality roasts, allowing drinkers to identify and articulate the specific qualities present in their cup.
