From the roaster

Our Big Timber Blend is a blend of high-grown Indonesian and Latin American coffees, combined to highlight the unique character of each origin. This blend uses a post-roast technique, with each coffee roasted individually to develop its distinct qualities before being expertly brought together. By using a variety of roast styles, we achieve a captivating complexity: creamy chocolate notes and bright citrus undertones meet the rich, smoky depth of our darker, signature roast.

The Name: Big Timber, a favorite double black diamond ski run at Schweitzer Mountain Resort where Rick, one of our founders, loves to carve first tracks. Big Timber’s steep drops, winding chutes, and tree lines present a bold challenge for even the most seasoned skiers, rewarding them with an unforgettable descent. Like the run itself, the Big Timber blend is crafted for those who crave a bold, exhilarating cup. With each sip, you’re transported to that untamed trail, feeling the rush as if you’re making tracks through untouched powder.

Context

The Big Timber Blend, crafted by Evans Brothers Coffee, represents a deliberate approach to balancing diverse origins. By combining beans from Indonesian and Latin American regions, this blend seeks to harmonize the distinct characteristics typically associated with these growing areas. Indonesian coffees are often sought after for their heavy body and earthy depth, while Latin American selections frequently contribute a vibrant acidity and clean finish.

In the cup, this blend presents a profile defined by creamy chocolate, bright citrus, and a distinct smoky quality. These descriptors highlight the roaster's intent to create a complex sensory experience that bridges the gap between rich, dessert-like sweetness and sharp, lively fruit notes. For those looking to better understand how these specific attributes interact, consulting a flavor wheel can be a helpful tool for identifying the nuances within the cup. This blend serves as a versatile option for those who appreciate a structured, multi-layered coffee experience.
