Origin Story
Peña Blanca is a small farm tucked into a northern pocket of the acclaimed coffee-growing region of Nariño. Before becoming a coffee farmer, Enuar Rodrigo Ramos raised livestock. He then used his proceeds to build a home for his family and acquire a 2-hectare plot of land dedicated to coffee. This lot is harvested from the Colombia Variety trees that Don Enuar cultivates on his farm.
The Colombia Variety is the result of a laboratory cross between Caturra and Timor Hybrid, yielding a plant that is resistant to coffee leaf rust, produces high cup quality, and can be densely planted to allow for more efficient and productive harvests. While this variety can be found on farms throughout Colombia, the care that Don Enuar and his family take in harvesting only ripe cherries and drying the coffee on covered, raised beds yields exceptional results.

Context
The Colombia Peña Blanca, sourced by Intelligentsia Coffee, represents the meticulous work of producer Enuar Rodrigo Ramos. Grown in the high-altitude landscape of Nariño, this lot highlights the distinct character of the Colombia varietal. While regional profiles in this part of the country are often celebrated for their vibrant acidity and complex sweetness, the specific expression of any single harvest is shaped by the unique microclimate and processing techniques employed at the farm level.
When evaluating the nuances of a coffee like this, enthusiasts often consult the flavor wheel to better identify the specific aromatic and taste compounds present in the cup. Because the Colombia varietal was developed specifically to balance disease resistance with high-quality cup potential, it remains a cornerstone of modern coffee production. This offering serves as a focused look at the output of a dedicated producer working within one of the most respected coffee-growing regions in the world.
