About Our Sourcing

Our blends are created from community-blended micro-lots sourced through our farming partners. Roughly 70% of all specialty coffee farmers lack the resources to form direct trade partnerships. However, by pooling their harvests and teaming up with our sourcing partners, they are able to create blended coffees which hold their own in the  specialty market. And by working together, each farmer assumes less risk while learning to develop a high-end coffee farm; a critical step toward self sufficiency and profitability.

Context

The Cold Brew Coffee 12-Pack from Joe Bean Coffee Roasters offers a convenient, ready-to-drink expression of beans sourced from Colombia · Northern Huila. This region is widely recognized for producing coffees that balance vibrant acidity with deep, sugary sweetness. When evaluating the profile of this specific blend—which features notes of caramel, grapefruit, orange, blackberry, and cantaloupe—it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better categorize these distinct citrus and stone fruit characteristics.

Cold brewing is a method often utilized to highlight the inherent sweetness of a coffee while muting sharper acidic edges. By steeping the grounds in cold water over an extended period, the process extracts a smooth, full-bodied cup that emphasizes the caramel base notes while allowing the brighter fruit tones to linger on the palate. This 12-pack provides a consistent way to experience the diverse sensory landscape typical of high-quality Colombian harvests.
