Burundi Heza Hills
Roasted by Metric Coffee Co.
This coffee is a carefully constructed lot from the Heza Washing Station that represents the community and the hill's harvest.

From the roaster
Heza Washing Station sits at 1,960 meters above sea level in Burundi's Butanyerera province, reached by switchbacking mountain roads and hand-built log bridges. To say it's remote would be an understatement, and yet the community in the surrounding hills is a tight-knit one, made up mostly of coffee farmers. Heza means "beautiful place" in Kirundi, the local language of Burundi, and with panoramic views and an ever-changing East African sky, it earns the name.
This coffee is part of Long Miles' Hills Quality program, a carefully constructed lot that brings together the best of what the hill produces each harvest season. Every day during harvest, lots processed at the washing station are monitored for physical and sensorial quality before being sorted by size, density, and color at the dry mill. The result is a lot that's deeply representative of the place it comes from and the community behind it.
