Wote Konga: Washed Coffee from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia
Wote Konga is sourced from family-owned farms surrounding the Konga Cooperative in Ethiopia’s celebrated Yirgacheffe region. Founded to support smallholder producers in the Gedeo Zone, the cooperative now represents more than 1,500 members and is part of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), a network dedicated to improving quality, sustainability, and market access for coffee-growing communities.
About Wote Konga
Grown at elevations ranging from 1,750 to 2,300 metres above sea level, Wote Konga benefits from Yirgacheffe’s cool climate, fertile soils, and ideal growing conditions. These high elevations slow cherry maturation, allowing the coffee to develop exceptional complexity, sweetness, and clarity.
The Konga Cooperative brings together hundreds of smallholder farmers who share a commitment to quality and sustainable farming practices. Their collective efforts have helped establish Yirgacheffe as one of the most respected coffee-growing regions in the world.
Cooperative Production & Washed Processing
Freshly harvested cherries are delivered to the Konga Cooperative, where they are carefully sorted and processed using the traditional washed method. The fruit is removed before fermentation and washing, highlighting the coffee’s inherent brightness and delicate aromatics.
Following processing, the coffee is dried on raised beds, allowing for consistent airflow and even drying. This meticulous approach preserves the clean, expressive character that has become synonymous with exceptional Ethiopian coffee.
Flavour Profile
Wote Konga offers a refined and elegant cup with notes of orange, strawberry, and black tea. Delicate floral aromatics are balanced by lively acidity and a tea-like body, creating a coffee that is vibrant, complex, and beautifully structured.
