Our philosophy of seeking the best in both coffee and people, was embodied by Olga “Polly” Robinson. She introduced her grandchildren, Jonathan and Sarah, to the wonderful world of coffee at an early age. This inspired them to start Bean There Coffee Company and share the world’s best coffee, while making a meaningful impact in the lives of the people who grow it. Through direct fair trade, we help these farmers empower their communities. In recognition of her unforgettable example, Olga’s Reserve is a carefully selected, rare, micro-lot coffee. It’s best enjoyed slowly, with a piece of chocolate, in peace and quiet, elegantly savouring every sip. Just as she did.

Context
The Olga's Reserve XIV Micro-lot, sourced from the Gondo Coffee Factory in Kenya’s Muranga County, represents a distinct selection curated by Bean There Coffee. This specific offering features the peaberry grade, a natural mutation where a single, rounded seed develops inside the coffee cherry instead of the typical pair of flat-sided beans. Because of their unique shape and density, peaberries are often sorted separately for their potential to roast more evenly and develop concentrated flavor profiles.
In the cup, this lot presents a vibrant acidity and complex structure, characterized by notes of dark berry, grapefruit, blackcurrant, and black tea. While Kenyan coffees are widely celebrated for their bright, wine-like acidity and intense fruit-forward profiles, the specific expression of these traits can vary significantly based on processing and terroir. To better understand how these specific descriptors align with broader industry standards, enthusiasts often consult the flavor wheel to map the nuanced sensory experience provided by this exceptional micro-lot.
