From the roaster

Gogogu is the perfect representation of what we strive for in a coffee. Something that is both easy-going and complex, that can satisfy the more traditional palates, as well as the more experienced coffee-drinkers. And now, we are incredibly happy to offer an exclusive decaffeinated version of one of our favourite coffees. Processed using the EA Sugarcane method allows the natural profile of the coffee to still shine through in the cup, something that we have aimed for in our Decaf offering. This is a specially processed batch just for Bonanza, and we are excited for everyone to taste it.

Bonanza Coffee Roasters

Context

Bonanza Coffee Roasters brings this Ethiopian decaffeinated coffee through the EA Sugarcane processing method—a water-based decaffeination that uses sugarcane byproducts as a solvent. This approach is designed to preserve origin characteristics while removing caffeine, making it accessible to those seeking Ethiopian coffee's distinctive profile without stimulation.

Decaffeinated coffees processed via sugarcane tend to maintain more complexity than some alternative methods, though the decaffeination stage inevitably shapes the final cup. With Gogogu Decaf, exploring the flavor wheel will help identify what Bonanza has managed to preserve through this specialized process. It's worth tasting on its own merits rather than comparing it directly to its caffeinated counterpart.
