From the roaster

As much fun as we like to have at work, we take espresso very seriously! Over the years we have roasted, formulated, cupped and tweaked the roast of beans from Central America and South America to create what we think is espresso heaven! It’s bold, with a candied lemon acidity, married with a hint of roasted walnut and dark chocolate. It’s no wonder this is one of our best sellers. You can count on Double Dog for a perfect cup of espresso every time. It’s also the perfect foundation to craft your favorite Buddy Brew cappuccinos and lattes.

Context

The Double Dog Espresso, crafted by Buddy Brew Coffee, is a signature blend that draws its character from a curated selection of beans sourced across Central and South America. By combining origins from these two distinct regions, the roaster aims to create a balanced profile that bridges the gap between bright acidity and deep, comforting sweetness. In the cup, this espresso presents a distinct combination of candied lemon, almond, and dark chocolate.

When evaluating such complex blends, it is helpful to consider how different processing methods and regional climates influence the final cup. While some coffees lean toward the vibrant, citrus-forward notes often found in high-altitude Central American lots, others provide the heavy, nutty base typical of South American harvests. To better understand the nuances of these specific descriptors, tasters can reference the flavor wheel to identify the underlying aromatic compounds that define this particular espresso experience.
