Description
Roast Level: Dark Roast
Tasting Notes: Bittersweet Chocolate - Tobacco
Most people’s initial encounter with a dark roast is a cup full of smoke and ash, but we think coffee should be more than that. We strive to maintain distinctive origin flavors while softening the acidity and highlighting distinctive molasses and spice characteristics. This coffee is a shining example of our craft, providing enough roast development to please those who look for deep character, but applied with a delicate hand to still deliver a true coffee experience.
The West Pole, unlike the North and South Poles, has no geographic significance whatsoever. It was declared to be so as more of a gag than anything else, and we kind've love that. It's definitely not something you would expect to find in Bee Cave, Texas (just east of our roastery) so we named our dark roast blend after it...just because.
**In a constant effort to keep our blends as fresh as possible, the varietals can vary with coffee's changing seasonality. Contact the Roastery directly to learn more details about the coffees used in this blend

Context
West Pole, a signature offering from Cuvee Coffee, represents a curated blend sourced from across Central and South America. By combining beans from these two prominent coffee-producing regions, the roaster aims to create a profile defined by its depth and grounding characteristics. The resulting cup is marked by distinct notes of bittersweet chocolate and tobacco, a combination often sought by those who prefer a more traditional, savory-leaning experience in their morning brew.
When evaluating such profiles, it is helpful to consider how roasting techniques influence the final expression of these origins. While lighter roasts often highlight the inherent acidity of a bean, darker or more developed roasts tend to emphasize the base notes of cocoa and earthiness. To better understand how these specific descriptors fit into the broader spectrum of coffee analysis, you can explore the flavor wheel to see how these classic, robust flavors are categorized and perceived by professionals.
