Producer Homero Aguiar Paiva and his farm, Fazenda Guariroba (located in the region of Santo Antônio do Amparo), is a proud member of the SanCoffee group – which also supplies our much loved Santo Antonio coffee! When we heard his coffee placed 8th in this year’s Cup Of Excellence Pulped Natural lots, we jumped to bid for his lot and support the producer. We won the bid at USD 9.10 per pound (the winning lot went for a whopping USD 143 / lb!) and are excited to bring this coffee to Australia! A stunningly refined and balanced coffee; expect jammy dark fruits and ripe mango with a delicate creamy-sweet aftertaste.

Context

Produced by Homero Aguiar Paiva in the Santo Antônio do Amparo region of Brazil, the Guariroba COE Lot 8 represents a meticulous approach to cultivation within one of the country’s most recognized coffee-growing landscapes. This specific lot is prepared using the pulped natural method, a technique that balances the cleanliness of washed coffees with the body often associated with sun-dried cherries. As detailed in our processing methods explainer, this hybrid approach frequently results in a distinct mouthfeel and sweetness.

Sourced by Five Senses, this coffee presents a profile characterized by jammy dark fruit, ripe mango, and a creamy-sweet finish. While pulped natural coffees often exhibit a syrupy texture, the specific nuances of this lot invite exploration through the flavor wheel to identify the interplay between its fruit-forward acidity and its dense, dessert-like sweetness. It serves as a compelling example of the quality emerging from Paiva’s estate.
