Andino Bruselas, Washed
Roasted by Five Senses
Washed Colombian blend from Huila with grapefruit, red apple, and vanilla cola notes.

From the roaster
Ruby grapefruit, crisp red apple & vanilla cola.
From the steep ridges of Pitalito, Huila, Andino Bruselas is produced by 120 small-scale growers working with Caravela Coffee. Each farmer harvests and processes their own crop, receiving 25% above the market rate while maintaining sustainable practices. The region's mountainous terrain and fertile soils produce a lively, crisp acidity and layered complexity. Coffee often grows alongside avocados and tropical fruits, benefiting from the biodiversity of these mixed plantings. This washed lot, a blend of Caturra, Colombia, and Castillo, delivers bright ruby grapefruit, crisp red apple, and the sweet, spiced richness of vanilla cola - a vibrant expression of Huila.

Context
This washed Caturra from Pitalito, Huila arrives via Five Senses with a bright, fruit-forward profile. The washed processing method emphasizes clarity and acidity, which aligns with the roaster's detection of crisp red apple and ruby grapefruit—characteristic expressions of Colombian coffees from this region. The vanilla cola note adds subtle sweetness, balancing the coffee's natural acidity and creating a layered drinking experience. Caturra, a classically reliable varietal, performs well under careful roasting to highlight these nuanced flavors without overwhelming them.
