From the roaster

Blue Orchid is Huckleberry’s original house espresso blend.  It's designed to be approachable, both as espresso and as a brewed coffee, with and without milk.  No surprises, chocolate-driven goodness that'll work great in your morning latte!

While the Blue Orchid blend does change frequently, we try to maintain a sweet, full-bodied, chocolate and caramel flavor profile by using Central and South American coffees specifically chosen for those qualities.

This is great-tasting comfort coffee, and is a well-rounded crowd pleaser, especially if some of that crowd likes cream in their cup, or is bridging the gap between darker roast profiles into lighter single origins. We love intense floral aromatics, but some mornings we just want chocolate, toffee, and a bit of milk in our mug. And for those days, Blue Orchid is our go-to.

The current version of Blue Orchid is a blend of Guatemala Aprocafé Atitlán and Brazil Sancoffee Cooperative.

Context

The Blue Orchid Blend, crafted by Huckleberry Roasters, represents a classic approach to coffee composition, focusing on a profile defined by deep, comforting sweetness. By prioritizing notes of chocolate, caramel, and toffee, this blend leans into the foundational flavors often sought in traditional espresso or daily drip brewing. These specific descriptors fall squarely within the "Sweet" and "Nutty/Cocoa" categories of the flavor wheel, which serves as a helpful guide for identifying the nuanced characteristics found in various roasts.

While individual preferences vary, blends like this are frequently designed to offer a consistent, balanced cup that highlights the rich, sugary qualities inherent in high-quality beans. Whether enjoyed black or with milk, the emphasis on these indulgent, dessert-like tones makes the Blue Orchid Blend a versatile choice for those who appreciate a reliable and approachable coffee experience.
