This lot comes from Kundwa Women Coffee, a women-led producer group within the Abateraninkunga Ba Sholi (Aba Sholi) co-operative in Muhanga, central Rwanda. Founded in 2008 by 30 women, the co-operative has grown to more than 600 members farming at elevations between 1,800 and 2,000 masl. The name Abateraninkunga translates to “mutual assistance”, reflecting the co-operative’s emphasis on shared growth and collective support. In 2014, Aba Sholi established its own washing station, helping coffee become a more reliable source of income within the region. Since then, the co-operative has supported improvements in food security, healthcare and education, alongside programmes focused on women’s empowerment and youth engagement. This fully washed lot is hand-sorted and float-separated before pulping and fermenting for 12–18 hours. After washing and density grading, the coffee is pre-dried before finishing on raised beds for 14–21 days, with regular turning and ongoing hand sorting throughout the drying process.The result is a clean, structured and expressive cup, shaped by Rwanda’s high-altitude terroir and the collective care and expertise of the women behind it.

This washed Red Bourbon from Rwanda's Muhanga region represents the work of Kundwa Women Coffee, a producer collective centered on women's participation in coffee cultivation and processing. Grown at 1800–2200 meters above sea level, the beans have been processed via the washed method, which typically emphasizes clarity and cleaner fruit notes. Hundred House Coffee has roasted this lot to highlight its inherent character. Red Bourbon varietal coffees are known for their balanced sweetness and complexity, traits often well-suited to the high-altitude, mineral-rich soils of Rwanda's coffee regions.
