Context

Guatemala: La Morena Huehuetenango, sourced by Keia & Martyn's Coffee, highlights the distinct profile of the Huehuetenango region. Grown at elevations between 1200 and 1600 masl, this lot features the Bourbon varietal, which is widely celebrated for its balanced sweetness and complex acidity. By utilizing a washed process, the producers emphasize the inherent clarity of the bean, allowing the roaster’s notes of bittersweet chocolate, berry, and almond to shine through with precision.

When evaluating coffees like this, enthusiasts often reference the flavor wheel to better identify the nuances between nutty and fruit-forward characteristics. While washed coffees are frequently praised for their clean, bright profiles, the specific terroir of Huehuetenango often contributes a unique depth that distinguishes it from other Guatemalan origins. This selection offers a classic representation of high-altitude Bourbon, showcasing how traditional processing methods can highlight a sophisticated and approachable cup.
