From the roaster

This is our second year purchasing Luis Salas's Gesha separation. Luis, and the incredible florality of his coffee, is the reason why we were first drawn to the Santa Teresa region and why we continued to explore it in more depth this season. We are honored to again have the opportunity to work with his coffee. In the cup we find yellow tropical fruit, white peach, and jasmine.

Context

The 2026 Luis Salas from Sey Coffee represents a compelling expression of Peruvian coffee production. Sourced from the Santa Teresa region, this lot is cultivated by producer Luis Salas and features the Gesha varietal. Known globally for its distinct profile, Gesha is often prized for its floral, tea-like clarity and elegant structure.

In this specific offering, the cup profile highlights bright, nuanced characteristics, including yellow tropical fruit, white peach, and jasmine. These descriptors align with the delicate, aromatic qualities frequently associated with high-quality Gesha harvests. When evaluating such complex profiles, tasters often find it helpful to reference a flavor wheel to better identify and articulate the subtle interplay between the stone fruit sweetness and the floral aromatics present in the cup.
