From the roaster

Saying we love Gachatha would be an understatement. We have purchased Gachatha almost every year for the last 8 years. In previous years we've had the opportunity to visit this amazing washing station, and a few of the 1,100 farmers that make up the Gachatha factory. We purchased this lot from the week 18 out-turn from the Gachatha washing station.

This coffee explodes off the cupping table with notes of grapefruit, tangerine and florals.  It delivers all the juicy, candy-like sweetness we could hope for. The acidity is rounded and the body is juicy and balanced. Both complex and sweet, this Kenyan is a true treat for your morning cup!

Context

The Kenya Gachatha AA, sourced from the Gachatha washing station, represents the vibrant, high-acidity profile often associated with the Nyeri region. Roasted by Case Coffee Roasters, this selection highlights the bright, citrus-forward characteristics typical of the area, specifically featuring notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and florals.

In the broader context of specialty coffee, Kenyan lots are frequently celebrated for their intense, sparkling acidity and complex fruit-driven profiles. When evaluating these distinct flavor characteristics, enthusiasts often consult the flavor wheel to better categorize the nuanced citrus and floral aromatics present in the cup. While general processing methods in this region often emphasize clarity and brightness, the specific profile of this AA lot offers a focused expression of its origin. By balancing these sharp, fruit-forward elements with delicate floral undertones, this coffee serves as a quintessential example of the meticulous processing standards maintained by the Gachatha washing station.
