From the roaster

Just a short drive down the road from the Nyungwe Forest, which is thought to be the headwaters of the Nile river, is the Ibisi Mountain Hills washing station. Founded by Bernard Uwitije in 2015, Bernard saw the potential for quality in the region and has been producing outstanding coffee since. We are proud to offer the Ibisi as our first ever Rwandan offering.

When freshly ground, notes of brown sugar and clove come to mind. Brewed, the coffee has a rhubarb sweetness that as it cools turns to apricot and honey. This is a beautiful, slightly earthy coffee that has a balanced sweetness and makes a great dip or pourover.

We roast and ship on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All orders placed before 10AM ship that day.

When evaluating the nuances of a coffee like this, it can be helpful to reference a flavor wheel to better categorize the distinct aromatic and gustatory experiences. While individual lots vary based on processing methods and specific harvest conditions, the combination of stone fruit and warm spice notes found here offers a compelling look at the diversity of the Rwandan landscape.
