Coaltown Coffee Liqueur Anthracite No.2
Roasted by Coaltown Coffee
Natural process Uganda coffee liqueur from Rwenzori Mountains with juicy, fruity profile.

From the roaster
The term ‘Anthracite’ is given to coal with fewer impurities, resulting in a cleaner burn. Only the best was given the name Anthracite.
Coaltowns Limited Edition Standard Anthracite No2 Coffee Liqueur has been exclusively made in partnership with local distiller In The Welsh Wind.
This unique liqueur has been designed to represent the criteria we apply to our Anthracite No2 coffee to produce a juicy, fruity natural profile that you wouldn’t necessarily associate with coffee.
Coffee: Donkey Kisinga, Uganda
The Rwenzori Mountains, famously known as the ‘Mountains of the Moon’, stretch for 120km along Western Uganda and are home to the Bakonzo tribe. The high altitude, fertile soils provide perfect conditions for growing coffee beans, while the breathtaking snow-capped peaks, glaciers and consistent rainfall create a sustained supply of fresh water.
Many coffee farmers live high up on the slopes of the Rwenzori mountain range, which peaks at more than 5,000 MASL. The higher altitude the coffee grows, the slower it matures, which results in a more complex and unique cup profile. To access the farms situated at these high altitudes, Agri Evolve has arranged a ‘donkey network’ that collects the ripe cherries from the farms located in these remote areas. This very literally leaves the heavy lifting ‘donkeywork’ to the donkeys instead of being transported in small quantities by push-bike.

Context
This natural-processed lot comes from the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda, where SL14 thrives at 2200 meters. Natural processing typically imparts heavier fruit character and wine-forward notes—qualities evident here in Coaltown Coffee's tasting profile of candied plum, blackberry, and wine gums. The SL14 varietal, when naturally fermented, tends toward these darker fruit expressions with slight confectionery sweetness. Coaltown Coffee has captured a wine-like depth in this Anthracite offering, where the extended fruit-skin contact of natural processing amplifies berry complexity and jammy undertones. The result is a robust, fruit-driven cup reflecting both origin and method.
