Dead Reckoning is our main espresso blend. We combine coffees with depth of flavor and balance as well as vibrancy in the cup. We currently use a blend from Guatemalan coffee from La Maravilla as the chocolatey base. We then add Ethiopian natural and washed coffees for structured acidity and fruit-forward sweetness. The result is an approachable espresso which appeals to coffee connoisseurs and everyday drinkers alike.

Context
Dead Reckoning, offered by Corvus Coffee Roasters, presents a profile defined by the interplay of dark chocolate and red berries. In the broader landscape of specialty coffee, roasts that highlight deep, cocoa-forward bases often provide a structured foundation for brighter, fruit-toned acidity. These flavor combinations are frequently sought after by those who appreciate a balanced cup that bridges the gap between traditional richness and vibrant, berry-like complexity.
When evaluating such profiles, enthusiasts often reference the flavor wheel to better categorize the specific nuances of these fruit and chocolate characteristics. While dark chocolate notes typically anchor the finish, the presence of red berries introduces a distinct brightness that can vary significantly depending on the processing method and origin. Dead Reckoning serves as a focused example of this classic pairing, inviting drinkers to explore how these two distinct flavor categories harmonize within a single roast.
