the la banda has been a revelation: sweet, clean and structured with a silky body. so, it is with great excitement that we release this rare maracaturra variety from the same farmer group. those who had maracaturra plants separated them and we've been waiting with bated breath to get these giant beans into the roaster. the cups were a stand out on our cupping table: floral, apricots and chewy with lots of lipids and good acidity. another gem from our latin american collaborations with alejandro--the hits just keep coming.

Four Barrel Coffee

Context

This Nicaragua Azul Y Blanco from Four Barrel Coffee originates from Dipilto, a growing region in Nicaragua's mountainous northwest. Sourced from plants of the Maracaturra varietal and grown at 1500–1650 meters above sea level, the coffee develops a distinctive floral-forward profile. The roaster identifies jasmine and honeydew melon as primary aromatics, complemented by stone fruit notes of apricot and a chewy mouthfeel that suggests full body. Natural-processed coffees from Central America often emphasize fruit-forward character, and this lot exemplifies that tendency through its layered sweetness and botanical complexity.
