Paramount blend: a darker roast done with care

The dark sweetness of toffee and a dusting of cacao nibs up front, finishing long on dark chocolate. Full-bodied and satisfying – the kind of cup that earns its place in a morning routine.

Paramount is our darker roast. It makes a big, chocolatey espresso that stands up in milk drinks, and it's good as filter too. If you like a cup with some weight to it, start here.

Coffee is seasonal, so the components in this blend shift through the year as fresh harvests arrive. Want to know why? Read The Coffee Arrival Calendar. The bag in your hands is always fresh, in-season coffee.

Roast and brew

Roast Dark. We give it a long development time and take it gently to the edge of second crack, which deepens the body and brings out the dark chocolate. It stays clean in the cup.

Recommended brew recipe Dose: 17g Yield: 32g Time: 25 to 30 seconds A starting point we like. Tweak it to your taste.

Resting Rest it for at least 7 days after roasting before brewing it as espresso. Plenty of people like it earlier, so brew whenever you fancy.

Context

The Paramount blend, crafted by Has Bean, centers on a profile defined by deep, indulgent sweetness and structural richness. By focusing on notes of toffee, cacao nibs, and dark chocolate, this coffee leans into the classic, comforting spectrum of the flavor wheel. While lighter roasts often highlight acidity and bright fruit, coffees developed with these specific cocoa-forward characteristics typically offer a heavier, more viscous mouthfeel that lingers on the palate.

This selection serves as a quintessential example of a balanced, dessert-like cup. Because these flavor profiles are rooted in the darker end of the sensory spectrum, they are frequently sought after by those who prefer a traditional, full-bodied experience. Whether enjoyed as a standalone brew or as a base for milk-based drinks, the Paramount highlights the roaster's commitment to consistency and depth, providing a reliable and satisfying experience for drinkers who gravitate toward rich, chocolatey profiles.
