From the roaster

Finca Altatierra is an organic farm in the Santa Bárbara region of Honduras. It is one Honduran manzana in area, or about two US acres. Altatierra is nestled in the foothills on the northern slopes of the Santa Bárbara Mountain. The producers call it “cloud forest grown” because it is on the edge of a rainforest with a unique classification — where persistent low-lying clouds provide moisture to vegetation.

This is another beautiful farmgate coffee that is great as espresso.

Context

Sourced from the Santa Bárbara region of Honduras, Finca Altatierra represents a classic expression of the country’s high-grown coffee production. This lot is prepared using the washed process, a method typically employed to highlight the inherent clarity and structural acidity of the bean. By removing the fruit flesh before drying, producers can achieve a clean cup profile that emphasizes the underlying characteristics of the terroir.

Roasted by Keia & Martyn's Coffee, this selection features a profile defined by chocolate, praline, cocoa, and light citrus notes. These descriptors align with the nutty and sweet categories often found on the flavor wheel, offering a balanced experience for those who appreciate traditional, well-defined cup profiles. Grown at 1365 masl, this coffee showcases the consistent quality that has helped establish the Santa Bárbara region as a significant contributor to the specialty coffee landscape.
