From the roaster

Santa Lúcia returns to our menu for a third year with a delicious fresh harvest of yellow bourbon. We visited this farm for the first time last October and are thrilled to have their coffee in stock once again. Expect a sweet and comforting cup with a heavier body and relatively low acidity—on the cupping table we tasted milk chocolate and cocoa, peanut butter, hazelnut, dried apricot, date, and cherry.

Context

Produced by Santa Lúcia, this Brazilian offering showcases the classic profile often associated with the Yellow Bourbon varietal. Cultivated in the renowned Brazil region, this lot is roasted by Partners Coffee to highlight a comforting, dessert-like sweetness. The cup is defined by a rich foundation of milk chocolate, cocoa, peanut butter, and hazelnut, balanced by the subtle, concentrated sweetness of dried apricot, date, and cherry.

While individual lots vary, coffees from this region are frequently celebrated for their approachable, nutty, and chocolate-forward characteristics. When evaluating these complex layers, tasters may find it helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better identify the interplay between the deeper cocoa notes and the brighter, stone-fruit undertones present in this selection. This coffee serves as a quintessential example of the traditional, well-rounded profiles that have made Brazilian beans a staple in specialty roasteries worldwide.
