From the roaster

This fully washed selection comes from Suke Quto, our longest-running farm relationship in Ethiopia. Tesfaye Bekele founded the farm in 2000 as a forest conservation project, and since then it has become a model for sustainable coffee farming.

An outstanding representation of the traditional Guji profile, we're tasting layers of stone fruit, citrus, florals, and caramel - think yellow peach and apricot; lime, bergamot, and orange blossom; toasted coconut and caramel syrup.

We're thrilled to share that this coffee was selected as a winner in the 2026 Good Food Awards.

Context

Sourced from the Guji region of Ethiopia, this Suke Quto lot is produced by Tesfaye Bekele and roasted by Partners Coffee. As a washed coffee, it highlights the clean, vibrant acidity often associated with this traditional preparation method. While processing methods significantly influence the final cup, washed Ethiopian coffees are frequently celebrated for their delicate, tea-like elegance and bright, aromatic profiles.

In this specific offering, the cup presents a complex interplay of stone fruit and citrus, ranging from yellow peach and apricot to lime and bergamot. These bright, fruit-forward characteristics are balanced by subtle floral notes of orange blossom and a grounding sweetness reminiscent of toasted coconut and caramel syrup. To better understand how these specific descriptors align with broader sensory categories, you may find it helpful to consult the flavor wheel. This selection serves as a quintessential example of the refined, nuanced profiles that define the Guji region’s output.
