Context

The 2026 Gilber Huayllas from the Amaybamba valley in Peru represents a compelling look at the SL9 varietal cultivated by producer Gilber Huayllas at Llaqta Pata. Sourced and roasted by Sey Coffee, this lot highlights the distinct character of the region through a profile defined by violet, candied orange, and lemon. While individual lots vary, coffees from this specific valley often reflect the unique microclimates found within Peru’s diverse landscape.

When evaluating the nuances of such a profile, it is helpful to reference the flavor wheel to better understand the interplay between floral aromatics and citrus acidity. SL9 is a less common varietal in the global market, making this release a notable opportunity to explore the specific output of the Huayllas farm. By focusing on a light, precise roast, the roaster aims to preserve the clarity of these delicate notes, offering a transparent expression of the harvest.
