From the roaster

Hadeso is our newest washed coffee from Ethiopia. The Hadeso community is dotted among the Shakiso mountains. This co-op lot is comprised of coffee cherries grown by over 500 farmers and delivered to their local washing station. The coffee is fermented for 36 hours before drying on covered beds to escape the rain. The resulting cup is light and ethereal, with soft green sweetness and delicate florals. We tasted white and green grapes, silver needle white tea, and a light clover honey.

Broadsheet Coffee

Context

Ethiopia's Shakiso region produces coffees celebrated for their clarity and delicate aromatics, qualities evident in this washed lot from the Hadeso community co-op. Washed processing—detailed in Broadsheet Coffee's process guide—typically emphasizes a coffee's inherent brightness and tea-like qualities, a profile well-suited to this origin's natural characteristics. The tasting notes point toward the refined, floral spectrum that Shakiso-grown coffees are known for, with white tea and clover honey providing a gentle sweetness rather than bold fruit intensity. This particular expression balances white and green grape notes with green tea qualities, inviting comparisons to delicate florals and subtle fruit on the sensory spectrum. Broadsheet Coffee positions this as an approachable entry into Ethiopian washed coffees—ideal for those seeking complexity without heavy body.
