Context
This single-origin offering from producer Mayra Solís highlights the distinct terroir of the Tarrazú region in Costa Rica. Cultivated at an impressive elevation of 2000–2100 meters above sea level, this lot reflects the meticulous agricultural practices common to high-altitude farming, where cooler temperatures often contribute to slower cherry maturation and increased density. Such conditions are frequently sought after for their potential to produce complex, vibrant cup profiles.
Sourced and roasted by Cartwheel Coffee, this selection serves as an excellent case study for exploring the nuances of Central American coffee production. When evaluating the specific characteristics of this lot, tasters may find it helpful to reference the flavor wheel to identify and articulate the subtle aromatic and gustatory markers present in the cup. By focusing on the intersection of Mayra Solís’s expertise and the unique environmental factors of her farm, this coffee provides a clear window into the high-quality standards defining modern Costa Rican exports.
