Context
Produced by Luis Pedro Zelaya in the renowned Antigua region, this Guatemala Buena Vista selection showcases the meticulous standards associated with high-quality Guatemalan production. As a washed coffee, the processing method emphasizes the bean's inherent clarity and structural acidity, allowing the specific terroir of the valley to shine through. Case Coffee Roasters highlights a complex profile featuring cherry cola, mango, almond, and nougat.
When evaluating such distinct flavor profiles, it is helpful to reference a flavor wheel to better categorize the interplay between the bright, fruit-forward notes of mango and cherry cola and the deeper, confectionary sweetness of nougat. While washed coffees are often celebrated for their clean, vibrant profiles, the specific balance found here reflects the careful cultivation practices of the Zelaya family. This lot serves as a compelling example of the classic, refined character that has long defined the reputation of the Antigua growing region.
