Coffee Details

This is our fourth year partnering with producer Mr. Marzo Munoz and his family. Marzo runs the farm with the help of his sons and grandson. His father emigrated from a place called Colinas to the region of Santa Barbara, and began working from scratch, planting coffee in a small area since the price of land was cheap.

When asked what motivates him to continue in coffee farming, Marzo says, "I always helped with the activities of the farm growing up, and that made me fall in love with this world of farms and forests. I have depended on coffee all my life, it's something I inherited from my father. I started to work hard to make productive farm. Thanks to the coffee I managed to build my house and give my children an education. I have had some very difficult times, but now have access to a good market where my coffee is valued for its quality. This represents for me a great joy and motivates me to continue working."

Context

Produced by Marzo Munoz in the Santa Barbara region of Honduras, this selection represents the meticulous work of a dedicated producer. Roasted by Case Coffee Roasters, the coffee presents a profile defined by plum, peach, and toasted almonds. When evaluating such specific flavor profiles, it is often helpful to consult a flavor wheel to better identify the nuances between stone fruit acidity and nutty undertones.

Coffees from Santa Barbara are frequently recognized for their distinct character, often shaped by the unique microclimates found within the region's rugged terrain. While individual lots vary based on processing methods and specific farm practices, the combination of fruit-forward notes and toasted aromatics found in this lot highlights the diverse potential of Honduran coffee. By focusing on the intersection of origin-specific terroir and careful roasting, this offering provides a clear window into the current output of the Marzo Munoz farm.
