From the roaster

This juicy, fruit-bomb of a coffee hails from the Kieni wet mill in the Nyeri region of Kenya. The mill, under the management of Charles Mwai Ihatu, has earned a reputation for an outstanding level of quality. This has lead to them being one of the highest paid cooperatives in Kenya and we are proud to work with them. The cup is extremely sweet with notes of ripe blackberry, guava and grape Jolly Rancher. It's juicy with a balanced, beautiful acidity that dances on the tongue. The body is pleasant, silky and clean. We highly recommend as drip.

We roast and ship on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. All orders placed before 10AM ship that day.

Context

Sourced from the renowned Nyeri region, the Kenya Kieni AA represents the meticulous processing standards of the Kieni wet mill. This specific lot, brought to market by Case Coffee Roasters, showcases the vibrant, high-acid profile for which Kenyan coffees are globally celebrated. While Kenyan coffees are often characterized by their intense brightness and complex acidity, this particular selection highlights distinct notes of ripe blackberry, guava, and grape Jolly Rancher.

When evaluating such expressive profiles, enthusiasts often consult the flavor wheel to better categorize the nuanced fruit-forward characteristics present in the cup. Because coffees from Nyeri are typically grown in nutrient-rich volcanic soils, they frequently exhibit a sophisticated structure that balances sweetness with a crisp, clean finish. This offering serves as a quintessential example of the region's ability to produce deeply layered, fruit-driven experiences that remain balanced and refined from the first sip to the last.
