Colombia, a coffee growing powerhouse located in South America has been producing coffee for centuries. Coffee producers here typically cultivate their coffee on less than 5 acres of land in the cool mountain climates, highly suitable for specialty coffee. Once coffee is harvested, it is processed at their own micro-wet mills and then dried on site to a safe moisture content before final processing at an offsite dry mill. Colombia’s main harvest season is during the months of October and January. However, growing regions in this country are large enough with varying climate shifts, lending to a fly crop that happens between April and June.

Also available as a Dark Roast.

Context

Sourced from Colombia, this offering from Montana Coffee Traders showcases the classic profile often associated with the region. By utilizing the washed process, producers prioritize clarity and consistency, which allows the inherent characteristics of the bean to shine through without the influence of fruit fermentation often found in other methods.

In the cup, this coffee presents a profile described as nutty, crisp, and sweet. These descriptors align with the foundational categories found on the flavor wheel, highlighting a balanced experience that emphasizes clean acidity and approachable, sugary undertones. While washed coffees are frequently celebrated for their bright, clean finish, the specific nuances of this lot reflect the careful preparation typical of high-quality Colombian production. Whether enjoyed as a morning staple or a mid-day pick-me-up, this selection offers a reliable and refined expression of its origin.
